At the origin of all Kellerbiers brewed in Franconia, the darker version (dunkel) was what breweries served before the arrival of pale malts and refrigeration. Served fresh and unfiltered, it is characterized by its malty and roasted bread flavors. Generously hopped at the end of brewing, its sharp bitterness with spicy and herbaceous hops aromas make it an excellent thirst-quenching beer.
