Ultimate development to create a pale Lager, the Helle is the quintessential of Bavarian craftsmanship of brewing beer that started 3000 years ago. It was developed in response to the overwhelming popularity that the Pilsner received in Germany following its invention at Pilsen in 1842 by Joseph Groll. However, it took another 30 years of development before the final version of Helle was brewed commercially for the first time in 1872 by the Spatten brewery.
