Strong bitterness with an aroma of coffee, chocolate and Bourbon.
Exported to the Baltic Sea region for the first time in 1781 by the London brewery Barclay-Perkins, it was brewed for more than 200 years by the latter. It became the favorite beer of Empress Catherine II who ensured a regular import of this beer for the Russian imperial court, hence the new name of Russian Imperial Stout.
